History

Development

U.S. Air Force Pararescuemen—often referred to simply as “PJs”—were created to perform combat search and rescue (CSAR) missions during both wartime and peacetime. Over the decades, PJs evolved into some of the most extensively trained special operations personnel in the U.S. military, mastering parachuting, diving, mountaineering, trauma medicine, and survival techniques.

Role
